AI in Hospitality: From Booking Calls to Group Sales

Picture this—you’re asleep and the property’s phone rings. Rather than a member of staff answering, the booking system’s AI voice assistant answers, asks the guest a few questions, automatically books a room and sends a confirmation email. You wake up the next morning, and the reservation is already in. This isn’t a movie plot; it’s happening at HITEC 2026.

6,100 operators

HITEC 2026, the world’s largest hospitality technology show, opens in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 6,100 industry professionals witnessing AI hotel employees at work.

AI booking conversion is nearly twice that of traditional search—OTA rankings and visibility are increasingly determined by AI algorithms

‘AI answering the phone’ is no longer a joke

In June 2026, HITEC 2026, the world’s largest hospitality technology show, took place in San Antonio, Texas. More than 6,100 industry professionals attended and saw “AI hotel employees” officially go to work.

A new company called Grevon introduced ‘Echo,’ a voice AI dedicated to answering booking calls. No matter when guests call, it responds, confirms dates, party size, and needs, then completes the reservation automatically. ‘Pulse,’ launched alongside it, serves as an AI booking assistant on the website; ‘Ops’ acts like an accommodation operations brain, bringing daily operating information together for staff.

The conversion rate for AI bookings is nearly twice that of Google search.

Hospitality tech giant Amadeus revealed a surprising figure: 44.7% of visitors referred by AI completed a booking, compared with just 25.9% of those arriving through Google organic search.

This means OTA rankings and visibility are increasingly determined by AI algorithms: listings with more complete information, better ratings, and a stronger fit with platform recommendation logic get shown to more travelers.

“AI booking conversion is already approaching twice that of traditional search. Being seen by AI means being seen by travelers.” — Amadeus, AI travel trends data (PhocusWire, HITEC 2026)

AI can also help you negotiate group bookings

Canary Technologies has launched an ‘AI Sales Coordinator’ that can automatically handle inquiries about weddings, corporate room blocks, event venues, and more—from the first request-for-pricing email to the final confirmation, AI handles the entire process, so sales staff no longer have to monitor every email exchange.

“That sounds impressive, but can Taiwan’s guesthouses use it?”

Most of these tools are currently designed for mid-sized and large properties, but the trend is clear: costs will only fall, and integration will only get easier.

This wave of AI tools isn’t about whose technology is coolest; it’s about who can capture every booking opportunity. For most guesthouse owners, the key isn’t learning AI themselves—it’s making sure qualified professionals are handling it for them.

Key Takeaways

AI is already answering calls, discussing group bookings, and deciding which room to recommend—the key isn’t learning AI yourself, but having professionals help you seize the opportunity.

  1. 1

AI booking conversion is nearly twice that of traditional search: OTA ranking competition is intensifying. More complete listing information, better ratings, and a stronger fit with platform recommendation logic help put your property in front of more travelers.

  2. 2

The barriers will keep falling: These tools are currently being adopted mainly by large accommodations, but OTA platforms themselves also use AI to choose which listings to recommend. Now is the time to understand how your OTA listings are performing.

  3. 3

You can be just as competitive without investing in the technology yourself: H& has integrated market-trend analysis and AI smart pricing into its property-management service, giving your guesthouse access to the booking-conversion and revenue-management advantages of large-scale accommodation businesses.

Talk to H& if you would like to discuss any of the following:

  • I want to hand OTA visibility and room-rate management over to professionals instead of figuring it all out on my own.
